INVEST IN A BUILDING
STRENGTHEN A COMMUNITY
Trinity Church needs your help to Restore its building, Renew its commitment to the Northborough community, and Rejoice at the opportunity to continue serving the community long into the future.
Our iconic building in the center of downtown Northborough has been a gathering and meeting place since it was dedicated in 1848. It became Trinity Church in 1948 with the merger of the First Baptist Church and the Evangelical Congregational Church. In the 1950’s Trinity added a 3-story annex to the building for offices, classrooms, meeting rooms and fellowship space. Subsequent improvements have included expanding fellowship and gathering space and building a commercial quality kitchen.
Our annual budget has allowed us to do routine maintenance and repairs. However, needs have arisen in our 178-year-old building that are far beyond routine. The biggest, most obvious need is to restore the steeple and spire which now sits in our parking lot.
We are excited to announce this capital campaign to restore and improve our building so that our members and friends can gather in this historic place in the center of Northborough for generations to come.

As Trinity’s senior minister, I want you to know how excited I am about our capital campaign to restore and renew our beloved building which has been a spiritual home to so many people to find God’s love, a warm welcome, a place to pray, and a meeting place for life enrichment.
Know when you give to our capital campaign, you are doing more than investing in our building—you are strengthening a community for the next generation of worship and service.
While our $500,000 goal is an ambitious one, I believe we will be successful in accomplishing it—not because the need is great, though it is, but because the love for Trinity is deep, the mission is worthy, and God is faithful.
Thank you for all you do in making Trinity Church the special place that it is.

OUR IMPACT
How does Trinity Church contribute to the community?
Today, Trinity serves as a vibrant center for the Northborough community, offering a wide range of programs, events, and services that bring people together and support those in need.
The church sponsors many activities including Applefest; the Blessings Boutique Thrift Shop and annual Fashion Show; Coffee House; a free weekly Community Meal; an annual free Chili Cook-Off ; a Friendsgiving meal during Thanksgiving season and a summer BBQ Block Party.
Trinity members and friends generously share their time and resources to help support individuals and organizations throughout the region. These include Worcester Fellowship, an outdoor church for people experiencing homelessness; the Neighborhood Support Team which supports immigrants and refugees; the Northborough Food Pantry; Northborough Helping Hands; and Northborough Junior Women.
In addition, Trinity provides meeting space for several community organizations, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Al-Anon, and local Scout troops. The church also offers rental space for both small and large gatherings, including its commercial-grade kitchen.
PROJECT GOALS
Why are we having a capital campaign now?
A successful Capital Campaign will enable Trinity Church to accomplish critically important and long-overdue restorations and improvements to our building.
We identified a number of structural issues we need to address in our church building that has served us and the Northborough community for over 178 years. We also identified improvements that will make the building more comfortable and energy efficient. These improvements will cost far more than we can afford in our annual budget; therefore, we have decided to conduct a special fundraiser, this Capital Campaign.
Our goal is $500,000 which will allow us to address the projects listed below. The projects are not listed in any priority order.

Engage a consultant to start planning to bring the building up to accessibility codes. The compliance work will be required because we’re planning so much repair and restoration that the accessibility laws will require us to further enhance build accessibility. | $20,000 |
Sand blast and paint the fire escape. This is rusting and needs to be protected so it will be safe to use if needed, and will not need to be replaced at a much higher cost. | $26,000 |
Restore funds in the capital emergency fund that were used to fund an emergency re-roof of the north section of the building earlier this year. | $30,000 |
Upgrade electrical system and add new circuits in Fellowship Hall, Room 105, the office, and for outdoor outlets. We need additional circuits to accommodate air conditioners and the power needed to support large events. | $33,000 |
Rebuild the floor of the front entryway and reinforce joists under the Fellowship Hall. This necessary work was identified by our structural engineers in 2025. | $74,000 |
Protect the building from humidity and water infiltration by installing a vapor barrier in the crawl space under the floor and installing gutters, downspouts, and drainage to channel water away from the building. This also includes some clean-up work from the insulation project which is being paid for by MassSave. | $137,000 |
Provide money toward completion of the steeple restoration which will include a number of interior and exterior repairs as well as new copper roofing and painting. The church will seek grant money from the Town of Northborough and other sources to help pay for the total project. | $180,000 |
You can help with a generous gift to Trinity’s Capital Campaign!
As our congregation pursues its capital campaign to Restore our building and Renew our commitment to the Northborough community, each of us is asked to prayerfully consider how we will support this effort with as generous a gift as possible.
Many of us will be making this financial commitment using accumulated assets, not the funds we need for day-to-day living. While the campaign period is five years, we encourage you to give as large a portion as possible initially so we can start working on the building projects as soon as possible.
Please be sure to fill out your Letter of Commitment so we will know how you will give to support the Campaign. You can mail or deliver your completed Letter of Commitment to the church office (address at the bottom of the page). If you are unable to print a copy of the Letter of Commitment, you may pick up a copy at the church office.

A gift of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds)
You can ask your broker to transfer shares electronically from your account directly into the church’s account. Remember to ask your broker to identify you as the donor of the shares of stock so that you receive both the credit for the gift and the official acknowledgement letter from the church. For specific instructions, please contact Pete Carlsen, Chair of the Lead Gifts Task Group.
Convert Jewelry, Artwork, or Real Estate
You may have appreciated assets such as jewelry, artwork or real estate that you would like to sell and then donate the proceeds to the church. Special arrangements may need to be made with regard to real estate to avoid capital gains tax, so please contact your attorney.
